After a year of strict figure painting Garnett started to stretch the figure and paint from his mind and sketchbook, using the light he had acquired from live models. This series is a hybrid of traditional painting, surrealism and the bridge that takes Garnett into his first Reconstruction paintings of 1997.
The artist continues to paint several of these figures a year as they have become important elements of the studio tapestry and inform other bodies of work. Recent sculptures can be correlated to the stretching of necks and limbs that distinguish the October series. This is one of Garnett's favorite bodies of work, although the October paintings remain in the shadow of other series that have achieved commercial success. Garnett began to sculpt some of these figures along with the paintings and looks forward to bronze work with the right patronage. Collectors who would be interested in subsidizing a sculpture are welcome to make an inquiry.
